If a patient has earwax in the deep part of the ear, if the earwax is flaky, it can be removed directly with a cerumen hook or with special forceps. If the earwax is sticky and thin, it can be sucked out with a suction device. Some patients may have larger earwax masses, which may be hard to remove directly and may cause damage to the skin of the ear canal or even the eardrum if removed forcibly. In this case, you can use phenol glycerin ear drops or sodium bicarbonate solution in the ear to dilute the earwax masses and then use a suction device to remove them.
