The treatment of thirst quenching needs to identify the evidence to choose, thirst is mostly caused by yin deficiency and fire exuberance, solid heat in the spleen and stomach, spleen and stomach weakness, kidney and yin deficiency, and so on, and need to choose the drugs according to the type of traditional Chinese medicine in order to quench the thirst. 1. The treatment is to clear heat and reduce fire, using Huanglian Shangqing Pill. It is contraindicated for people with deficiency of spleen and stomach (weak and cold spleen and stomach). 3. Weakness of the spleen and stomach: symptoms such as dry mouth, lack of desire to drink, decreased food intake, poor digestion, pale red tongue and weak pulse. This product is not suitable for those who are suffering from coldness (fear of cold) and fever, and those who are suffering from fullness of the stomach (abdomen) due to overeating and drinking. 4. Kidney-Yin deficiency type: manifesting as dry mouth and desire to drink, excessive urination, lumbar and knee soreness (feeling of soreness and weakness in the lumbar and knee regions), heartburn and dizziness, as well as atrophy of the tongue and nipples, and so on. The formula is Six-flavored Di Huang Pill, and cold and flu medicines should not be taken during the course of the medication. Before taking the above medicines, they should be used under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner, and should not be purchased and used on one’s own to avoid delaying the condition.
