The bulge behind the head may be a normal physiological phenomenon, or it may be caused by pathological factors such as scalp hematoma, folliculitis, fibroma, tumor and so on.
1. Physiological factors: If the bag behind the head exists for a long time and there are no other uncomfortable symptoms, it is considered to be caused by the normal outward protruding growth of the occipital tuberosity.
2. Pathologic factors
(1) Scalp hematoma: there is a history of trauma, usually caused by blunt force injury to the scalp hematoma behind the head and the symptoms of bulging bag. It can be divided into subcutaneous hematoma, subcapitellar hematoma, and subperiosteal hematoma.
(2) Folliculitis: the hair follicles at the back of the head infected with staphylococcus and so on can cause localized follicular inflammation, which can be manifested as a localized lump appearing at the right back and can be accompanied by pain, itching and other symptoms.
(3) Fibroma: scalp fibroma behind the head causes local bulging symptoms, can be related to trauma or mosquito bites, etc., mostly seen in the subcutaneous, clear boundaries, smooth surface easy to push.
(4) Tumor: such as cranial exophytic osteoma, it can cause bulge and hard lump at the back of the head, which can be manifested as expansive growth, and with the increase of the tumor, it may cause pain, hearing loss, intracranial hypertension and other symptoms.
It is recommended that people with the above symptoms should go to the hospital in time, complete the brain imaging examination, clarify the cause of the disease and then actively treat it, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
