Vaginal septum, also known as longitudinal septum, is a congenital abnormality of the vagina that is caused by the failure or incomplete disappearance of its septum after the confluence of the embryonic paramedian tubes during embryonic development. Most of them do not interfere with menstruation or pregnancy and the fetus is located on one side of the uterus. Incomplete mediastinum is an oblique vaginal septum and most of them have no clinical manifestations. Some cases of vaginal longitudinal septum may cause difficulties in pregnancy and can be removed to improve the chances of conception.
