What is mucinous epidermoid carcinoma

Mucinous epidermoid carcinoma is one of the malignant tumors and the most common type of salivary gland malignancy. Highly differentiated mucous epidermodysplasia carcinoma is a painless mass and grows slowly. The low-differentiated mucous epidermoid carcinoma grows faster and is usually painful, and the border is not clear as it adheres to the surrounding tissues. Parotid tumors involve the facial nerve and have a high metastatic rate, with the possibility of hematogenous metastasis. Treatment is mainly surgical, and the facial nerve should be preserved as much as possible, unless the nerve has penetrated the tumor or is closely connected to the tumor, and the nerve needs to be removed together with the tumor, and radiotherapy is required after surgery. If there are enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, cervical lymph node dissection is also required. For those with low differentiation, cervical lymph node dissection is chosen, while for those with high differentiation, cervical lymph node dissection is usually not necessary.
