Wet rales are abnormal breath sounds heard on auscultation of the lungs, and are produced by fluid vibrations or blister rupture caused by airflow through thinly secreted airways. The sound is distinctive when deep inspiration is taken and is characterized as intermittent and brief. It is mainly caused by bronchial lesions, commonly seen in bronchopneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, and abnormal breath sounds may also be heard in the presence of acute pulmonary edema and pulmonary stasis. It is necessary to diagnose the disease according to the patient’s clinical manifestations and other examinations and auxiliary tests to actively treat the disease.
