What to do if there is a lump above the laryngeal node

Lumps above the laryngeal nodes are mainly seen in the following conditions: The first and most common is a thyroglossal duct cyst, which is formed when the thyroglossal duct is not completely occluded after birth. Clinically, ultrasound is required to determine this and then surgery is performed to remove the cyst and the duct to which it is attached. The second is an ectopic thyroid, which also requires an ultrasound to see if there is thyroid tissue in the original location, and if there is, surgical removal of the ectopic thyroid can be performed. Again it can be seen in other conditions such as lymph nodes, sebaceous cysts on the skin. So it is important to analyze the situation on a case-by-case basis and then treat the cause.
