Nerve pain in the legs can take ibuprofen, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that acts as an antipyretic and analgesic, relieving neuropathic headaches as well as nerve pain. Leg neuralgia, if necessary, requires the patient to look for the cause, the most common cause being lumbar disc herniation or lumbar spinal stenosis. The patient can develop neuralgia in the legs due to compression of the dural sac or irritation of the nerve roots. In this case, the patient can be given oral ibuprofen, acetaminophen for pain relief, physical therapy, acupuncture to relieve the nerve pain, and surgery if necessary. Also, for patients with neuralgia in the leg, if it is caused by degeneration of peripheral neuropathy, patients are advised to take B vitamins orally.
