Nucleic acid testing is done by transnasal and pharyngeal means. Pharyngeal swabs and nasal swabs are collected from different sites, use different swabs, and will be tested differently depending on the degree of suspicion. It is recommended that the new coronavirus nucleic acid test be performed at a regular hospital. If the nucleic acid screening is conducted at the community level, the test will be performed by collecting from the posterior wall of the pharynx. A pharyngeal swab is used to collect specimens from people’s tonsillar crypts and the posterior pharyngeal wall. If the test is done for a close-knit group of people or for a group of people suspected of having the infection, the test is done in both the nasal and pharyngeal areas. The examiner uses different swabs, with the nasal swab being relatively long. Specimens are taken from the nasal mucosa and the posterior pharyngeal wall and the tonsillar crypts, respectively.
