How to treat dry mouth and lack of appetite and feeling tired

Dry mouth, lack of appetite and fatigue are mostly regarded as manifestations of spleen deficiency in Chinese medicine. Spleen deficiency is mostly caused by dietary disorders, cold and temperature discomfort, worry, overwork or prolonged illnesses that injure the spleen. As the spleen transports fluids and fluids, a deficient spleen can be seen as a dry mouth; the spleen is the main transporter (the spleen has the function of digesting food and drinks, absorbing food essences and fluids, and transmitting them to the whole body), so a deficient spleen with no transporter has no appetite; and a lack of qi and blood can lead to fatigue. In addition, spleen deficiency can also be seen in emaciation, yellow face, indigestion of food, abdominal pain, bowel sounds, loose stools (thin and unformed feces) or diarrhea, swelling, blood in stools, and menorrhagia (excessive or sporadic menstrual flow). To treat spleen deficiency, medications that benefit the qi and strengthen the spleen should be used, and the specific medications should be prescribed by a medical professional, commonly used medications include Sijunzi Tang, Tonifying the Middle Jiao Qi Tang, and so on. When discomfort occurs, one should consult a doctor in time and choose the medication under the guidance of the doctor’s diagnosis, and should not use the medication on one’s own, in order to avoid delaying the condition.
