What should we pay attention to in order to prevent and treat sinusitis?

Cold weather brings a sudden increase in the number of patients with colds. The number of patients with sinusitis caused by cold or weather changes also increases accordingly. Professor Ruxin Zhang, director of the Department of Otolaryngology at East China Hospital of Fudan University, reminds the public that when symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose and headache persist for more than 2 months, it is likely that the cold has already turned into rhinitis, from rhinitis to sinusitis, or even from acute sinusitis to chronic sinusitis. So do not take the cold and rhinitis lightly, the acute rhinitis or acute sinusitis should be treated early and standardized, do not let the acute rhinitis turn into chronic sinusitis. The treatment is not standardized, the inflammation does not heal There are four pairs of sinuses around the nasal cavity, namely the maxillary sinus, sieve sinus, frontal sinus and butterfly sinus. They are all bony cavities lined with mucous membranes, which are rich in glands that secrete a certain amount of mucus, which is discharged from the nasal cavity through the natural openings of the sinuses through the movement of cilia. Therefore, the sinuses must be ventilated and drained smoothly to maintain normal physiological function. When a person has a cold, the mucous membrane of the sinus opening is congested and edematous, the sinus opening will be blocked and the mucus cannot be discharged normally, which further aggravates the inflammation, and due to the infection of the curing bacteria, the nasal mucus will be yellow and thick, and the retention of purulent secretions in the sinus can cause headache and head swelling. Patients will have the feeling of blowing their noses, which is likely to have formed sinusitis. Many people have had a similar experience: nasal congestion, runny nose, to the pharmacy or hospital to buy some medicine drops nose, but the medication three days to fish two days, so repeated several times, can not relieve the symptoms, and then go to the hospital, puncture, electrocautery, laser, microwave …… each treatment may be a little better in the short term nose ventilation, but not long after, and The old disease returns, and some will get heavier and heavier. The actual treatment of sinusitis must be standardized and have a regular course of treatment, said Professor Zhang. The most important thing is to prevent sinusitis from lingering. The actual fact is that you can get a lot more than just a few of these. If the immunity decreases, sometimes it may also cause serious complications such as intra-orbital infection and intracranial infection. Professor Zhang said that sinusitis is not difficult to treat, but you need to follow the principles of early treatment, standardized treatment and individualized treatment, do not let sinusitis linger, and avoid other possible complications. Professor Zhang said, acute sinusitis and chronic mild sinusitis, should be preferred to drug treatment, most can get satisfactory treatment results. If sinusitis is not cured after three months of standardized medication, surgery may be required. The indications for surgery need to be determined by sinus CT examination to understand the severity, location and extent of sinusitis, as well as a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s symptoms to determine the correct treatment plan. Minimally invasive surgery is advocated for sinusitis, i.e. sinus endoscopic surgery. It is the use of a slender sinus endoscope, through the nostrils deep into the nasal cavity, on the TV screen can be observed in the nasal cavity, sinus subtle lesion structure, effective removal of irreversible lesion tissue, maximum protection of the normal tissue of the nasal cavity sinus, so that the surgery is less traumatic, recovery is fast, is a more ideal method. Professor Zhang finally also stressed that even if the successful sinus endoscopic surgery treatment, this is only one component of the treatment of chronic sinusitis, and the standardized postoperative nasal medication and postoperative medication changes are also the key to prevent recurrence. How to prevent sinusitis People should not only treat but also prevent the disease. The nose is the gateway to the respiratory tract, which is connected to nature and is the first line of defense against invasion of disease-causing microorganisms, dust, etc. Therefore, in ordinary daily life, you should protect your nose to prevent chronic sinusitis: 1. Correct bad habits: protect nasal hair and nasal mucosa, overcome bad habits such as digging the nose with your hands, plucking nasal hair, cutting nasal hair; 2. Give your nose a bath often: when washing your face in the morning, use cold water Wash the nose several times in the morning, can improve the blood circulation of the nasal mucosa, enhance the adaptability of the nose to weather changes, to prevent colds; 3, massage Yingxiang point: massage Yingxiang point back and forth with the middle finger or index finger of both hands (in the nasolabial groove depression on the outer edge of the nose), massage this point helps to improve local blood circulation and prevent nasal disease; 4, colds and rhinitis should be treated in a timely manner to prevent the evolution of sinusitis.
