In fact, the above series of symptoms is exactly palm and foot hyperhidrosis, a very common disease, but also treatable!
First of all, we need to know what is palmar hyperhidrosis?
In medical terms, we define it as.
  1. unexplained excessive sweating lasting for at least 6 months.
2, interfering with normal daily activities.
3, sweating bilaterally or in relatively symmetrical areas at least once a week.
4, age less than 25 years.
  5. Family history. If you meet three of the above five conditions, you can be considered to have hyperhidrosis of the palms and feet!
In fact, the incidence in China is not low, about 2%, and about 0.3% in young people aged 10-30. Especially in the south, there are relatively more patients with massive sweating and relatively less in the north.
As for the treatment modalities, we routinely have five kinds in general.
1.Injection treatment: Botulinum toxin type A
2, external drug treatment: 10%-30% aluminum chloride anhydrous alcohol solution
3, internal drug therapy: anticholinergic drugs, antidepressants or sedative drugs, etc.. Such as oral atropine, ranuncine, scopolamine .
4, physical therapy: 2 to 3 times a week for aluminum chloride for ion introduction therapy
5, surgical treatment: endoscopic T2 ~ 4 sympathetic nerve cut. The following are a few of the above treatment modalities.
1, about the application of aluminum chloride on the palm of the hand, will have a certain antiperspirant effect, but the probability of skin infections, such as folliculitis, is greater.
2, about oral medication, generally also can temporarily stop sweating, but after taking the medicine will have dry mouth, nausea, drowsiness symptoms.
3, ion introduction method, basically is every two days to come to the hospital to receive treatment, more time wasting.
4, the effect of surgery will generally be very good, but is an invasive surgery, there are certain complications, such as pneumothorax. Moreover, it will also lead to more sweating in the chest and abdomen than before, which we medically call compensatory hyperhidrosis.
Here, we focus on the way to get Botox injections. There are also many studies on Botox injections, and the research on the injection dose as well as local anesthesia is also very advanced and mature. Basically, there is very little pain during the entire injection process, and the average effect of one injection lasts for about a year. If you want to continue the treatment at a later stage, you can still have the injection and it will not affect the efficacy. However, after the injection, the patient will have temporary symptoms of muscle weakness in the hand, which will generally recover in about 2 weeks, so it is recommended that the patient treats one hand first.
