Can saline and iodophor be used at the same time

Saline and iodophor can generally be used at the same time, but the so-called simultaneous use should be sequential, rather than blending the two for use, which will dilute each other and weaken the disinfection ability. For non-serious traumatic wounds, when the wound is small and shallow, only iodophor can be used for disinfection, as iodophor is less irritating and does not cause greater pain when disinfecting. For deeper or larger injured wounds, foreign bodies in the wound can be rinsed with saline first, especially if there is sand and wood chips in the wound, they should be rinsed with saline so as not to grow in the wound, but the saline is irritating and will cause a burning sensation in the wound, and then iodophor can be applied to the wound for disinfection. After cleaning the wound, the patient should try to keep the wound dry and not in contact with water to avoid breeding bacteria that can enter the body with the wound. If the wound is slow to heal, it should be disinfected daily to avoid infection. Once redness, swelling, ulceration and fever appear, the wound should be treated promptly to avoid serious condition.
