Clinical manifestations and treatment of lipoma

Lipoma is the most common type of benign tumor in clinical practice. It mainly presents as a single or multiple nodules under the skin, which easily causes panic and annoyance. It accounts for about 1/5 of outpatients. The most common clinical manifestations of lipoma are: 1) subcutaneous nodules; 2) soft texture; 3) clear boundary; 4) good mobility; 5) slow growth; 6) multiple. They mainly appear in the upper and lower extremities, abdomen and other parts. At most, 10-20 lumps of similar nature may appear in the same area. In people’s conception, the difference between “female” and “male” tumors is mainly due to the multiplicity of tumors, and there is no difference between “male” and “female” tumors. There is no distinction between “male” and “female”. The most common questions that patients have are: 1) Why do I have tumor; 2) How do I treat it; 3) How do I prevent it. The main reasons for developing lipoma are: 1. Genetic factors. It is caused by the genes of the previous generation. However, it is not necessary for all previous generations to develop the disease. But in my body can be expressed. This is mainly due to the differential expression of genes; 2. Dietary factors. This is an acquired factor, but not a decisive factor. Because in clinical manifestation, lipoma is more frequent in obese patients, and it is also not uncommon in those who have a thin body shape. Principles of treatment for lipoma: Those who are not in pain, not itchy and slow growing can be observed and treated. However, if the following conditions occur, the patient should be operated in time: 1. If the tumor increases more than 1 times in size in a short period of time (2-3 months); 2. If the tumor has obvious pain in the near future; 3. If the tumor has a history of malignant tumor in the past. How to prevent: This is one of the clinical headaches. Because there are no effective preventive measures for lipoma at present. Although physical exercise and weight loss were once one of the measures to prevent lipoma, they cannot be confirmed by scientific data due to the lack of clinical theory and practical support. Current treatment measures: There is no data to confirm that liposarcoma is transformed from lipoma, therefore, observation and conservative treatment for slow-growing subcutaneous lipoma is still the main treatment. This is because for subcutaneous masses and cutaneous scars, most people prefer the masses to the scars. However, for rapidly growing subcutaneous masses, or painful subcutaneous masses, excisional biopsy is currently advocated as the main treatment to avoid delaying the disease. Therefore having a subcutaneous lipoma is not scary, the main thing is to understand that it is a benign tumor and a friend of people rather than an enemy. Sometimes we need to stay with it for life rather than get rid of it.
