For hemoptysis, the first step is to take comprehensive measures to control the hemoptysis by keeping the patient at absolute bed rest, applying various hemostatic drugs, and using sedatives as needed. Posterior pituitary hormone, known as the “internal hemostatic clamp,” can be used clinically to stop the hemorrhage. For hemoptysis that may be caused by pulmonary infection, active antibiotics should be used to control the infection, while comprehensive hemostatic measures should be implemented and relevant tests should be performed to determine the cause of the bleeding. For patients with unsatisfactory results of medical treatment, arteriography and bronchial artery embolization can be performed to stop the hemorrhage.
