How the nine-valent vaccine works

The cervical cancer nine-valent vaccine works by preventing infection with HPV type 6, HPV type 11, HPV type 16, HPV type 18, HPV type 31, HPV type 33, HPV type 45, HPV type 52, and HPV type 58. If these infections are blocked it will prevent over 90% of cervical cancer as well as vaginal cancer, and vulvar cancer, and anal cancer. Therefore, if available and age permitting, the nine-valent vaccine for cervical cancer can be administered. It is also recommended to avoid menstruation and not to get vaccinated during breastfeeding or pregnancy. A total of three doses of the nine-valent vaccine should be given, and it is recommended that all doses be given within one year.
