Redness in urine and a positive occult blood and a red blood cell count above normal are seen in routine urine examination and are called blood in urine. It is commonly found in the following diseases: i. Urinary tract infection: urinary tract infection is seen as red urine, frequent urination, urgent urination and painful urination. The cause is usually due to bacterial infection, and antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs are given for treatment; ii. Ureteral stones: red urine, back pain, lower abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, urinary frequency, urinary urgency, urinary pain, etc. The cause of red urine is due to stones going down to the ureter and cutting through the vascular mucosa. Treatment can be given to extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy and ureteroscopy to remove stones; iii. glomerulonephritis: generally IgA nephropathy is common, IgA nephropathy often has recurrent episodes of carnitic hematuria, treatment is given to the combination of hormones and cytotoxic drugs; iv. kidney tumors: kidney tumors often have painless hematuria, treatment is generally given to surgery or chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc.
