Do you have to be hospitalized for a flexible lens procedure to remove the tube?

Removal of the remaining ureteral stent tube after ureteral lithotripsy usually does not require hospitalization and can be done in the cystoscopy suite of the urology clinic, while some require hospitalization. Ureteral stenting tubes are often placed after ureteroscopic lithotripsy for renal ureteral stones to prevent support of the ureter. In general, most of the ureteral stent tubes are located inside the ureter, leaving the tail end of the tube inside the bladder outside the ureter. With the help of outpatient cystoscopy, the end of the tube can usually be seen, and then it can be removed with the help of surgical tools. However, there are some patients whose ureters need to be hospitalized for removal for various reasons, such as complete entry of the ureteral stent.
