The clinical manifestations of HFMD in children are complex and varied. According to the severity of the clinical condition, it is divided into ordinary cases and severe cases.
2. Ordinary cases: acute onset, fever or no fever, mostly cough, runny nose, lack of appetite and other non-specific symptoms. Sporadic rash or herpes can be seen on the hands, feet, mouth, buttocks and other parts of the body, occasionally on the trunk. Herpes in the oral cavity is mostly located on the tongue, buccal mucosa and hard palate, and often ulcers occur. The rash does not leave scarring or hyperpigmentation. Most of them heal within 1 week and have a good prognosis.
2. Severe cases: In addition to the above manifestations, cases with rapid progression of the disease, accompanied by any of the following systemic complications, are considered severe cases:
(1) Nervous system: high fever, headache, vomiting, depression, drowsiness, easy to be frightened, coma and other symptoms;
(2) Respiratory system: symptoms such as increased respiration, dyspnea, cyanosis of lips and mouth, worsening cough, coughing up white, pink or bloody foamy sputum;
(3) Circulatory system: symptoms such as increased or slowed heart rate, ashen face, patterned skin, cold limbs and cold sweat.
When a child suspects HFMD, he should go to the hospital in time and cooperate with the doctor for active treatment.
