An indistinct thyroid border is not necessarily a malignant tumor. A nodular goiter can also present as a thyroid nodule with indistinct borders. A malignant nodule is indicated by the following signs: a hypoechoic thyroid nodule with unclear, burr-like thyroid borders, suspicious punctate calcifications within the thyroid nodule, an aspect ratio greater than one, and abnormal internal blood flow signals. When malignant nodules are indicated, thyroid nodules need to be excised and intraoperative rapid cryopathological examination is performed. If thyroid cancer is confirmed, radical thyroid cancer surgery is required. Pathology can also be obtained by fine needle aspiration prior to surgery, and if pathology confirms malignancy, radical thyroid cancer surgery can also be performed directly.
