How to treat patients who have been diagnosed? According to the stage of stomach cancer, biological characteristics of tumor and patient’s body condition, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, Chinese herbal medicine treatment and immunotherapy are chosen.
1.Surgical treatment
Anyone who has no obvious signs of metastasis in clinical examination, no serious organic lesions in all important organs, and whose general nutritional status and immune function are estimated to be able to tolerate the surgery should be given the opportunity of dissection. The effect of surgical treatment of gastric cancer is greatly related to the early diagnosis of gastric cancer, pathological pattern and the choice of surgical plan.
2.Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy of gastric cancer as preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative adjuvant treatment of surgery can achieve the following purposes.
(1) To confine the lesion in order to improve the hand resection rate.
(2) Reduce the chance of intraoperative tumor cell dissemination and implantation.
(3) Adjuvant chemotherapy after radical surgery to eliminate possible residual lesions to prevent metastasis and recurrence.
(4) After palliative surgery, it can control the disease development and prolong the survival period.
3.Targeted therapy
In gastric adenocarcinoma with Her-2 gene amplification, trastuzumab targeted therapy combined with chemotherapy is feasible to improve the therapeutic efficacy and survival.
4.Radiation therapy
Pre-operative radiotherapy, intra-operative radiotherapy and post-operative radiotherapy are feasible according to the patient’s condition, disease stage and physical condition; pre-operative radiotherapy for gastric cancer can make the primary tumor of more than 60% of patients regress to different degrees and improve the resection rate.
5.Immunotherapy
Indications for immunotherapy include
(1) Suitable for systemic application of immunostimulants after radical surgery for early gastric cancer.
(2) Cases that cannot be resected or palliative resection can be treated with direct injection of immunostimulants within the residual cancer.
(3) Advanced patients with ascites are suitable for intraperitoneal injection of immune enhancing drugs.
6.Therapeutic Chinese medicine
At present, there are many effective prescriptions and medicines in Chinese medicine for gastric cancer, which can play an obvious role in reducing toxicity and increasing effectiveness for patients with middle and advanced gastric cancer.
