What happened to the numbness in the palms of the elderly

In elderly patients with numbness in the palm of the hand, if the numbness is unilateral, orthopedic related disorders such as neurogenic cervical spondylosis, elbow tunnel syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome in the forearm and simple injury to the radial, median or ulnar nerve should be considered. If there is numbness in both hands at the same time, peripheral neuritis caused by specific disorders such as diabetes mellitus and specific diseases of the brain such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, cranial tumor or peripheral neuritis caused by trauma should be excluded. For carpal tunnel syndrome, elbow tunnel syndrome or simple injury to the median nerve, radial nerve or ulnar nerve, surgical treatment is needed to relieve the compression of peripheral nerves if necessary to achieve symptom relief.
