What’s wrong with the dark red blood in the leukorrhea?

The leucorrhea with dark red blood in women can be clinically significant in view of many conditions and needs to be clearly diagnosed in conjunction with the patient’s other clinical symptoms and signs as well as relevant examinations. If the patient has leucorrhea with blood for a longer period of time before menstruation, the main consideration is that the patient may have luteal insufficiency, endometrial polyps, the position of the birth control ring downward and other abnormalities, gynecological ultrasound is needed to check the female progesterone, and if necessary, hysteroscopy is done to clarify the diagnosis. If the patient has leukorrhea with blood in between periods, it is mainly considered to be ovulatory bleeding, which is related to the transient decrease of estrogen during ovulation. If the woman has leukorrhea with blood after intercourse, it is considered to be contact bleeding, which is related to cervicitis, intraepithelial neoplasia of the cervix or cervical cancer, and needs to be screened for cervical cancer. If the patient is after pregnancy with leucorrhea plus blood considered to be caused by pre-eclampsia or ectopic pregnancy, need to dynamically observe the changes of progesterone, HCG, ultrasound, and increase the examination for symptomatic treatment if necessary
