What should I be aware of when exercising after a meal with diabetes?

For healthy people, there are no contraindications when it comes to exercise time. For diabetic patients, blood sugar is already unstable, exercise will consume energy, which in turn has an impact on blood sugar, so it leads to greater blood sugar fluctuations. If you don’t have a meal in time and exercise too much, it is easy to have a hypoglycemic coma during exercise. ”For diabetics, exercise as much as possible 1-2 hours after a meal.” At this time, the patient’s blood sugar level is more stable, plus the food in the stomach is also digested most of the time, compared with the immediate post-meal exercise, but also less likely to harm the stomach and intestines. Especially after breakfast, is the best time to exercise, because this is probably the highest blood sugar time of the day, when exercise often does not have to add meals. It is important to note that patients should not exercise when the effects of insulin or oral hypoglycemic drugs are strongest, otherwise it may lead to hypoglycemia. Some patients like to go out and exercise after taking their medication in the morning and then go home for breakfast, which is not right.
