The time to be discharged from the hospital after lumbar disc herniation surgery is related to the type of surgery, minimally invasive surgery can be discharged from the hospital in 1 to 2 days, and open surgery takes about 2 weeks. Lumbar disc herniation requires surgical treatment in severe cases due to rupture of the annulus fibrosus of the disc by external factors after degenerative changes of the lumbar disc segments, and protrusion of the nucleus pulposus tissue in the posterior or spinal canal. If the herniation is a single segment, minimally invasive surgery is usually used, and the patient can be discharged from the hospital in 1 to 2 days after normal surgery; if it is a multi-segment, the surgery can be open or minimally invasive, and the open surgery usually takes about 2 weeks. After being discharged from the hospital, patients should sleep on a hard board bed, keep the waist warm, change the medicine and disinfect the wound area regularly after the operation, keep the area dry and hygienic, and also carry out rehabilitation training. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time.
