There is no up-to-date treatment for Crohn’s disease and there is a lack of effective curative treatment for the disease, but general treatment, medication such as mesalazine and azathioprine, and surgical treatment can still be taken to maintain the relief of the disease.
1. General treatment: smoking cessation, high nutrition, low-fat diet, reasonable choice of parenteral or enteral nutrition.
2. Medication: In mild cases, aminosalicylic acid preparations, such as mesalazine, can be used to control inflammation. In moderate to severe cases, glucocorticoids such as budesonide can be used to control inflammation. Immunosuppressants such as azathioprine and methotrexate and biologics such as infliximab can also be used to relieve the condition.
3. Surgery: In case of ineffective drug treatment or serious complications such as acute perforation or hemorrhage, surgery can be adopted, such as resection of diseased intestinal tubes and laparoscopic surgery.
