What to eat can cause delayed menstruation

Food is not usually enough to cause delayed menstruation. Taking medications such as progesterone-based medications or birth control pills can cause delayed menstruation. This is because these medications contain high levels of progesterone, which causes a woman’s uterine lining to continue to grow without peeling when it is continuously exposed to high levels of progesterone. When the progesterone levels drop, usually in about four or five days, the endometrium will undergo exfoliation for menstruation to occur. Occasional use of this type of medication by women due to special circumstances is usually not detrimental to the body. Regular use can easily lead to menstrual disorders, or even endocrine disorders, which is detrimental to a woman’s health. Therefore, when a woman wants to delay menstruation, she needs to take the medication under the guidance of a doctor and according to the course of treatment.
