Rehabilitation exercises after coronary artery bypass grafting in elderly patients with coronary artery disease

The amount of exercise for postoperative rehabilitation should be increased slowly, and family members may need to assist in the early stage. Start with sitting or lying down to move the limbs, neck and shoulder joints, gradually sit up, bedside activities, and slowly increase the amount of activity to washing and toileting by yourself, in order to reach or approach the pre-surgery activity level. Walking is the best form of exercise, and slow – normal – healthy walking should be gradually transitioned. Sports exercise should be suspended in summer when the temperature or humidity is high. The following conditions can sometimes cause postural hypotension and lead to accidents and require high vigilance: a. sudden rise after prolonged lying, sitting or squatting (toileting); b. avoid running and leaping.
