Pentavalent rotavirus vaccination schedule

Pentavalent rotavirus vaccine usually requires three doses, the first at 6 weeks and the second and third at 10 weeks, 14 weeks or 3 months and 4 months of age, respectively. Rotavirus enteritis is an infectious disease that affects children’s health. It occurs in the fall and causes diarrhea and can be fatal in severe cases. The pentavalent rotavirus vaccine is intended for the prevention of rotavirus enteritis, with an efficiency of more than 80%. It is administered by oral route and requires a total of 3 doses, with the third dose given no later than 32 weeks of age and an interval of 4-10 weeks between each dose, mainly for children between 2 months of age and 3 years of age. Since rotavirus vaccine is a live attenuated recombinant vaccine, it can be inactivated by high temperatures, so it should be given with cool water, and no food or water should be consumed for half an hour before or after the vaccine.
