Cicada Shell is a Chinese medicine with cool nature, sweet and salty taste; it belongs to lung and liver meridians. Its effects include dispersing wind-heat, transmitting rashes, restraining wind and relieving spasm, brightening the eyes and eliminating cataracts (improving eyesight and blurred vision). This product is mainly used in treating wind-heat colds, the first signs of warm diseases, sore throat and hoarseness, itching of rubella, impenetrable measles, acute and chronic convulsions (pediatric diseases mainly manifested by dizziness, convulsions and seizures), redness and cataracts of the eyes (reddening of the whites of the eyes as if they are congested with blood), tetanus, etc. It is also used in the treatment of other diseases, such as diarrhea and cataract.
