A blood test for teratoma can’t tell whether it’s malignant or benign, it needs a pathology test to determine that.
Teratoma is a kind of ovarian germ cell tumor, which may be formed by abnormal differentiation of germ cells in embryonic stage, and can be divided into benign teratoma and malignant teratoma.
In distinguishing the nature of teratoma, blood test can be used as an aid to determine the nature of teratoma. However, the results of the blood test can not clarify the nature of the tumor, but also need to remove the teratoma, the teratoma tissue sent to the pathology biopsy examination, in order to clarify the nature of the tumor.
If cancer cells are found in the pathological biopsy, the tumor is malignant; if no cancer cells or tissues are found, the tumor is benign.
Therefore, it is not possible to determine whether the teratoma is malignant or benign only through blood tests, and pathological biopsy should be done to clarify the diagnosis. If teratoma is diagnosed, it is recommended to follow the doctor’s advice to carry out standardized treatment as soon as possible to reduce the adverse effects of the disease.
