Bitter mouth, loose stools and tinnitus may be due to liver and gallbladder damp-heat (the liver and gallbladder are trapped by the evil of damp-heat), which can be treated with the meridian formula of Yin Chen Artemisia Tang.
Yin Chen Artemisia Tang is from “The Treatise on Typhoid Fever” which is composed of Yin Chen, Gardenia and Rhubarb. It is effective in clearing away heat, inducing diuresis and relieving jaundice. Mainly treats damp-heat jaundice. It manifests as a distinct yellow color on the whole body, bitter mouth, thirst for water, nausea and vomiting, yellow urine, loose stools or constipation.
In the formula, Yin Chen is used as the principal medicine, this product is bitter and descending, good at clearing heat and inducing dampness, and it is the key medicine for jaundice. The subject to gardenia to clear heat and reduce fire, through the three jiao (the whole body), to help the Yin Chen lead dampness and heat from the small stool and go.
Supported by Rhubarb to remove heat and expel blood stasis, to facilitate the passage of stools (through the passage of stools, so that the heat and evil from the lower part of the body to drain out), and to guide the heat and blood stasis from the stools and down.
