The procedure of adenoids surgery is first performed under anesthesia, one way is local anesthesia and the other is general anesthesia. Since the procedure is more painful when performed under local anesthesia, it is now mostly performed under general anesthesia. Nowadays, adenoidectomy can be performed under general anesthesia with an angled laryngoscope or nasal endoscope inserted through the mouth, and then the enlarged adenoids are removed with a plasma knife or a nasal electric cutter, and then the bleeding is properly stopped and the removed tissue is sent for pathological examination.
