Risks of meniscus surgery

Any surgery has a certain risk, meniscus surgery is no exception, after strict pre-operative evaluation, under the operation of professional doctors, the relative risk is small, but not all patients will appear, the possible risks mainly include joint effusion, joint blood accumulation, joint infection, etc.. 1. Joint effusion: During meniscus surgery, if hemostasis is not complete or if the patient goes down to the ground for weight-bearing activities too soon after the surgery, it will cause joint effusion. A small amount of effusion can be avoided by avoiding knee-extension and knee-flexion activities, and it can generally subside on its own, and if there is a large amount of effusion, the fluid can be extracted under aseptic operation, and a bandage can be put on it. 2. Blood accumulation in the joints: Blood accumulation in the joints is mostly caused by the damage to the lower knee artery during lateral meniscectomy, or caused by the obstruction of venous return in the knee and tight bandage, which results in joint pain. Unclotted blood can be withdrawn, and clotted blood clots need to be removed by incision. 3. Joint infection: It is often caused by improper operation or infection foci in the body. Antibiotics can be applied systemically, and in serious cases, surgical incision can be made to drain the pus or arthroscopic irrigation treatment can be carried out. Doctors will usually inform the possible risks of the surgery before the meniscus surgery, and patients should actively cooperate with the doctor to do the preoperative examination, and if there is any discomfort after the surgery, you need to notify the doctor in time to deal with it.
