What’s with the birthmark on the temple?

Birthmarks on temples may be caused by pigmentation, blood vessel aggregation, etc. Common types of birthmarks include nevus of Ota, coffee spot, pigmented nevus and hemangioma.
1. Nevus of Ota: During embryonic development, melanocytes are retained in the dermis due to obstacles in their migration from the neural crest to the epidermis. Thus, a kind of birthmark is formed.
2. Café au lait: This disease is related to genetic factors, neurofibromatosis, multiple melanotic syndromes and other diseases, and is a sign of multi-system disease.
3. Pigmented nevus: the disease may be caused by genetic, environmental and other factors. Environmental factors such as ultraviolet irradiation, drug stimulation and trauma can cause acquired nevus of pigment; abnormal embryonic development may cause congenital nevus of pigment.
4. Hemangioma: It is caused by abnormal proliferation of congenital vascular endothelial cells, which manifests as red birthmark.
If you have birthmarks on your temples, it is recommended that you go to the hospital if necessary and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment.
