What causes a high bacterial value in a urine test during pregnancy

There are several possible reasons for high bacterial values in urine tests during pregnancy: firstly, it may be due to contamination of the urine. If the urine comes in contact with the external vaginal opening during urine retention, it may be affected by the normal vaginal flora and present a false positive urinary bacteria. Secondly, it is most common in urinary tract infections, mainly due to reduced resistance during pregnancy and changes in estrogen levels during pregnancy, which affects the acidity in the vagina. The weakening of bacterial inhibition causes bacteria to multiply and travel up the urinary tract, triggering infections in the urinary tract resulting in high bacterial values in urine tests. Again, many women are reluctant to urinate or drink less water during pregnancy, which can also lead to high urine bacteria or urinary tract infections. Finally, high urine bacteria may also be seen in urinary stones. The presence of stones makes them a nucleus for bacteria to flourish, thus leading to high urine bacteria.
