Does cervical biopsy affect menstruation

Cervical biopsy will not affect menstruation, but there will be a small amount of vaginal bleeding after cervical biopsy. Generally, the bleeding will stop in 1-2 days or there will be a small amount of brown discharge, which is normal. If there is excessive bleeding, you need to go to the hospital promptly for examination, vaginal tamponade, and antibiotics to avoid infection upstream causing pelvic inflammatory disease. If there is significant active bleeding, electrocoagulation or suturing of the cervix is needed to stop the bleeding. Cervical biopsy is performed using a biopsy forceps, which clips the surface tissue of the cervix, while menstruation is caused by the shedding of the endometrium, so there is no necessary connection between the two. Cervical biopsy needs to be avoided during menstruation to avoid causing endometriosis.
