Does breathing help you sleep?

Adjusting your breathing can help you sleep, although it cannot cure insomnia. Breathing is a common method of relaxing the nerves. Adjusting the frequency and depth of breathing in a certain way and rhythm, repeated over and over again, helps to relax the body and mind and makes it easier to fall asleep. However, insomnia can be caused by a variety of reasons, such as emotions or thought activities that affect sleep, the use and/or withdrawal of medications, the use of drugs or alcohol, external stimuli such as sound, light, temperature, etc., damage to the structures of the central nervous system involved in the initiation and maintenance of sleep, and a variety of physical ailments such as pain, sensory/motor deficits, etc., which need to be targeted, rather than relying on adjusting the breathing alone. If the symptoms of insomnia are more serious, it is recommended to visit a hospital for early and formal treatment.
