The course of the disease is usually 5-7 days, but if untreated or mistreated, some of these eyes can become subacute or turn into chalazia, which can extend to months or even years. Chalazion is a common inflammatory disease in ophthalmology, and if treated promptly with hot compresses and medications, it can usually return to normal in 1-2 weeks. However, if the infected bacteria are more virulent, resulting in the formation of local abscesses, the course of the disease will be extended accordingly.
