How to Treat Stage 2 Breast Cancer

Stage II breast cancer can be treated with surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy and endocrine therapy. Stage II breast cancer refers to the early to middle stage of breast cancer when the breast tumor is large or there is local lymph node metastasis, but fortunately there is no metastasis to distant organs. Patients in this stage need to reasonably choose surgical treatment, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, endocrine therapy, etc. according to the pathological type of the tumor, immunohistochemical results and physical condition of the patient. For patients whose cancer cells have not metastasized to distant places, mastectomy with breast preservation, total mastectomy, modified radical mastectomy, etc. can be carried out, and some patients can achieve the effect of radical treatment. Most patients need chemotherapy after surgery to further eliminate residual tumor cells. Endocrine therapy is applicable to patients with positive hormone receptors in immunohistochemistry, and commonly used endocrine drugs include letrozole, exemestane, and tamoxifen. Targeted therapy can also be chosen if the conditions of targeted therapy are met. Commonly used targeted therapy drugs include trastuzumab and patuximab. Breast-conserving surgery and some high-risk patients also need radiotherapy. Stage II breast cancer does not belong to advanced breast cancer, and through active treatment, patients have a high chance of being cured. It is recommended to go to the hospital in time and actively cooperate with doctors for treatment.
