How long can you live with a malignant tumor of the lung?

How long a lung malignant tumor can live mainly depends on the tumor typing, stage and patient’s physical condition, etc. It requires specific analysis and cannot be generalized. If the lung malignant tumor is early stage lung cancer, such as in situ cancer or microinvasive cancer, and the lung CT shows ground glass nodules in the lung, the patient can be treated by surgery, which usually can achieve cure after surgery and does not affect the survival period. If the lung malignancy is invasive cancer, patients can also effectively extend their life expectancy with targeted radiotherapy, chemotherapy or combined with targeted drug therapy according to their pathological staging. The 5-year survival rate of patients with stage IA lung cancer may reach 85%-90%; while the 5-year survival rate of patients with stage IV lung cancer may be only 10%. In conclusion, patients with lung malignant tumors should visit the oncology department in a timely manner and be examined by professional doctors to formulate reasonable personalized treatment plans according to specific conditions in order to prolong patients’ survival and improve their quality of life.
