Soft tissue inflammation includes boils, carbuncles, lymphadenitis, erysipelas, acute cellulitis, etc. In soft tissue infections with small, superficial, and few foci, oral antibiotics such as cephalosporins or penicillins can be used, along with topical anti-inflammatory ointments such as mupirocin and ichthyolite ointment. Patients with extensive lesions and systemic symptoms such as fever may be treated empirically with common pathogens in mild cases. In patients with significant signs of systemic infection, blood cultures and drug sensitivity tests should be performed, and medications should be adjusted accordingly if necessary.
