Can facial fat transfer improve skin texture, skin tone, and dark circles?

Fat grafting is a tissue-filling procedure, and when facial lipofilling is performed, the skin becomes firmer and more delicate. We have also found in our clinic that the skin texture of the facial skin becomes more delicate and glowing after fat grafting. After facial lipofilling, the fat becomes active under the skin, making the facial contours appear more harmonious and three-dimensional, and the face has a stronger sense of curves when viewed from the front and side. The highlight area formed when taking photos is distributed in the forehead, nose bridge and apple muscle area, making it more in line with public aesthetics. But since there are highlights, there will be shadows, and some shadows will form unsightly dark circles under the eyes. Dark circles can be broadly categorized into 3 types: pigmented dark circles, vascular dark circles, and structural dark circles. Facial fat grafting is effective for structural dark circles and some vascularized dark circles. For structural dark circles, i.e., dark circles formed by tear troughs and sunken shadows, fat grafting is the ideal filling material to supplement the volume of the lower lid, with uniform distribution of filler levels in the deep surface of the orbicularis oculi muscle and the shallow surface of the orbital rim periosteum, and at the same time, supplementing the entire mid-face volume deficit to achieve a harmonized appearance. Fat grafting can also be effective in vascularized dark circles that are formed by thin and transparent eyelid skin, with the orbicularis oris muscle underneath translucent through the skin. For pigmented dark circles, fat grafting is less helpful and needs to be combined with medication and lasers to achieve satisfactory results. Currently, the application of nano-fat (100 nm fat particles) for transplantation to fine facial areas is also more effective in removing fine wrinkles and pigmented dark circles.
