Children’s Height Calculation Formulas

Children’s height is an important indicator of a child’s long-term nutritional status, and it is calculated differently for children of different ages, according to the age in months for children within 1 year, and according to age for children over 1 year. The specifics are as follows: 1. The baby’s length at birth is 50cm, and thereafter the average monthly height growth is 2.5cm during the first 6 months; 2. During the baby’s 6 to 12 months, the average monthly height growth is 1.5cm, so that at the age of 1 year, the baby’s height is about 75cm. 3. During the year when the baby is 1~2 years old, the height grows by an average of 1cm per month, therefore, when the baby is 2 years old, the height is about 87cm. 4. In the child’s age 2~pre-puberty, about 6~7cm of height growth per year, the age growth formula for this stage is: (1) For children aged 2~6 years, height (cm) = age x 7 + 75; (2) For children aged 7 to 10 years, height (cm) = age × 6 + 80. Entering puberty after the child’s height changes greatly, and varies from person to person, and genetic, nutritional and other factors are related, so parents only need to pay attention to the child’s nutritional balance.
