What causes the protrusion of the upper dental bed in children

Protruding upper front teeth in children may be due to the forward protrusion of the teeth or due to overdevelopment of the upper jaw. In many cases, the simple protrusion of the upper front teeth may be due to bad childhood habits, including finger sucking and pencil biting, which were not corrected in a timely manner. There are also cases in which the upper jaw is excessively forward due to an overdevelopment of the upper jaw itself, a bony deformity that manifests as protrusion of the upper teeth. Therefore, if a child has protruding upper teeth, a CT or X-ray examination should be performed to determine the cause of the protruding upper teeth and to provide symptomatic treatment.
