Irregular anti-TB mainly includes failure to adhere to regular (intermittent and interrupted) anti-TB and failure to complete the prescribed course of treatment (early termination of treatment), in addition to irrational anti-TB regimens. According to long-term scientific research and analysis of the results of treatment of a large number of patients, rational chemotherapy cures about 95% of patients, and treatment failure (meaning continued elimination of bacteria) is only about 3%. In contrast, only about 45% of patients are cured with irrational treatment, and about 50% of treatment failure and a few patients with severe disease can lead to death. From the above results, it can be seen that the failure rate of irregular anti-TB treatment is high, and the relapse rate is also high, while it is very easy for bacteria to develop resistance to anti-TB drugs, and the treatment effect is poor again, becoming a chronic source of infection that is not cured for a long time, and some patients may also spread drug-resistant bacteria, bringing certain harm to society, so the harm of irregular anti-TB is very serious.
