Hip impingement syndrome

1.What is hip impingement syndrome? Academic definition: joint damage caused by abnormal contact stress between the proximal femur (femoral head and head-neck junction area) and the acetabulum, in most cases due to abnormal bony morphology of the femoral head-neck junction area and acetabular rim. The image analogy is that your shoe (acetabulum) and your foot (proximal femur) do not fit, so it always hits your foot. Of course, in this analogy, only the shoe does not fit the foot, but in reality, there are shoes that do not fit the foot (shoes have problems), feet that do not fit the shoe (feet have problems) and shoes and feet that do not fit (shoes and feet have problems). 2.What are the symptoms and manifestations of hip impingement syndrome? There are many academic symptoms and manifestations, which can be found on Baidu, but ordinary patients may not be able to read too well. In layman’s terms, the main manifestation of acetabular impingement is pain in the hip and groin area, but all the manifestations are not specific, but if you have pain and discomfort in special movements, postures and situations, and often do a certain movement, in a certain posture and situation always have pain and discomfort, then you may have hip impingement syndrome, and need to be examined by a professional doctor. It is important to note that a real professional doctor can only suspect impingement syndrome on the internet, but it is impossible to confirm the diagnosis. Because the diagnosis of hip impingement syndrome must be a combination of medical history, physical examination and imaging data, the network consultation can not meet the exact diagnosis. 3.Some people visit the doctor because of hip pain, some doctors say it is hip synovitis, but others say it is hip dysplasia and mild impingement syndrome, what is going on? Is it difficult to distinguish between these diseases? Personally, I think hip synovitis is just a manifestation of the disease, and we should try to find the cause of synovitis. Hip dysplasia and impingement syndrome are not the same disease, although the two diseases can also exist at the same time, but professional hip doctors are ready to diagnose the two diseases. 4. Some people have had hip pain for years and only go to the doctor when they can’t stand it anymore, only to be diagnosed with impingement syndrome. How is this caused? The cause of hip impingement syndrome is unknown, and the diseases that are clearly related to its occurrence are ischemic necrosis of the femoral head and slipped epiphysis in children. Therefore, the current mainstream view is that it is caused by congenital factors and acquired micro-injuries. God did not make people perfect, and some of them are not perfect because of the mismatch between the acetabulum and the femoral head. It is recommended that patients with hip pain should seek medical attention from a professional hip doctor as soon as possible. It is recommended that patients with hip pain consult a professional hip doctor as soon as possible. 5.Is it necessary to treat hip impingement syndrome when it is diagnosed? Can rehabilitation exercises improve the situation? Treatment is needed, but it is not necessarily surgical treatment. If you can adjust your lifestyle to avoid activities that cause symptoms, that is, if you are willing to lose some of the function of the hip joint, you can be treated conservatively and rehabilitation may improve the situation. 6. Can medication treat hip impingement syndrome? Medication is often ineffective because it is difficult to change your “shoes” and “feet”. If medication is effective, it is likely that you can improve without medication. 7. Do I have to have surgery? The sooner the surgery, the better? Please refer to question 5. Non-surgical treatment can be considered for simple hip impingement, but once glenoid labral injury occurs, early treatment is recommended. However, Chinese patients are often good at holding back and most of them come to the clinic with a combined glenoid labral injury.
