Which patients are candidates for interventional valve implantation (TAVI)?

TAVI should be performed by a team of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and interventional radiologists (Class I recommendation); TAVI should only be performed in hospitals where conventional cardiac surgery is available (Class I recommendation); TAVI is appropriate for patients with aortic stenosis who cannot undergo conventional cardiac surgery, who have severe symptoms, who have a life expectancy of >1 year, and who want to improve with surgery (Class I recommendation); TAVI is also appropriate for patients with aortic stenosis who have a high risk of conventional valve replacement and whose anatomy is more suitable for intervention (Class IIa recommendation). TAVI is also suitable for patients with aortic stenosis who are at high risk for conventional valve replacement and whose anatomy is suitable for interventional treatment and who have severe symptoms (Class IIa recommendation).
