What to do if the ECG voltage is exceptionally low

An ECG test showing particularly low voltage should further identify the cause. If it is caused by physiological factors, no special treatment is needed, and if there is a pathologic disease, the primary disease needs to be treated, such as treating pericardial effusion, pleural effusion, emphysema, and so on.
Low voltage on ECG may be caused by physiologic factors, for example, people who are overly obese or have a thick chest wall will show low voltage on ECG, but there is no cardiac or respiratory problem and no special treatment is needed.
It may also be caused by pathologic diseases, such as pleural effusion, emphysema, pericardial effusion, diffuse cardiomyocyte damage, etc., which need to be further improved by chest X-ray, chest CT, cardiac ultrasound and other tests to clarify the diagnosis.
After clarifying the primary cause of the disease, it is necessary to treat the primary disease. If there are respiratory problems, such as pleural effusion and emphysema, it is recommended to go to the respiratory department, and if there is damage to cardiomyocytes or pericardial effusion, it is recommended to go to the cardiology department for treatment.
