Hypertension is a clinical syndrome characterized by elevated arterial pressure and increased resistance of small peripheral arteries, accompanied by varying degrees of increased cardiac output and blood volume. According to the etiology, it can be divided into primary hypertension and secondary hypertension.
1. Primary hypertension: usually referred to as hypertension, its etiology is unknown, and it is currently believed to be caused by a variety of acquired factors, including abnormal blood pressure regulation, abnormal renin angiotensin system, high sodium, psychoneurological factors, abnormal vascular endothelial function, insulin resistance, obesity, smoking, heavy drinking, etc., which make the normal mechanism of regulating blood pressure not compensated, and account for the vast majority of hypertensive diseases. It accounts for the majority of hypertensive diseases.
2. Secondary hypertension is caused by some organic diseases with specific etiology, common causes include glomerulonephritis, chronic pyelonephritis, congenital kidney lesions (polycystic kidney), renal artery stenosis or renal tumors, hypercortisolism, pheochromocytoma, primary aldosteronism, hyperthyroidism, aortic valve insufficiency, aortic stenosis and so on.
